An unusable slope was thoughtfully transformed into a series of outdoor rooms, culminating in a lower patio featuring a reflecting pool. Located in the Denver Highlands, this garden maximizes contemporary outdoor living on a small footprint. Custom steel arbors define the eating and lounge spaces, cantilevered sand exposed concrete terracing with ipe inlays allowed for linear lighting, an oxidized steel fire pit and floating stepping stones lend a sense of urban edge, and lush plantings provide interest throughout the year. In the front, an oxidized steel "boulder" playfully engages concrete stepping stones giving a hint to the garden beyond.

These clients are so much fun and they love the color pink! Our design brief was to create a rooftop lounge that celebrated the view to Bear Peak as well as a more intimate garden centered around a custom stainless steel spa. The result features a cantilevered aluminum shade structure that allows for unobstructed views and afternoon shade, a custom steel fire pit, curved pink steel walls and staircase that links the two spaces, repurposed ipe decking, new walkout nana doors to the lower spa garden with lush shade plantings, aspen trees that provide shade and shimmer, cobble stepping stones and artificial turf.
